Chapter 21 - The True Sanctuary

Two years later.

The Mercer-Callaway Foundation was thriving, having expanded to three new branches across the state, helping thousands of underprivileged children.

On the penthouse balcony, the table was set once again. It was a beautiful summer evening. Noah, now over three years old, was running around the terrace, chasing a golden retriever puppy Roman had bought him for his birthday.

Isla stood at the railing, but this time, her silhouette was different. She was glowing, her hand resting gently on her noticeably round belly. She was six months pregnant.

Roman stepped out through the glass doors, holding two glasses of sparkling apple cider. He set them down and immediately wrapped his arms around Isla, his large hands resting over hers on her baby bump.

"He’s kicking," Roman murmured, a look of pure, unadulterated awe on his face.

"She," Isla corrected with a mischievous smile. "The doctor confirmed it this morning while you were in your meeting. It’s a girl, Roman."

Tears, rare and precious, welled up in the billionaire’s eyes. He turned Isla around, cupping her face in his hands, and kissed her with a deep, passionate reverence.

Noah ran over, wrapping his small arms around both of their legs. "Group hug! Group hug!" he cheered.

Roman laughed, picking Noah up with one arm while keeping his other arm securely around Isla. They stood together on the balcony, high above the glittering city lights. The shadows of betrayal, poison, and corporate warfare were completely obliterated by the light of the family they had built.

They had built their sanctuary out of a cold stairwell, and now, it was an unbreakable empire of love.

"I love you, Mrs. Callaway," Roman whispered.

"I love you more, Mr. Callaway," Isla replied, as the stars shone brightly above their perfect home.
