Chapter 20 - The Healing Process

The aftermath of the storm brought a profound peace back to Callaway Tower. Davis was granted a second chance; though removed from his high-level security clearance, Roman funded his sister’s medical recovery and placed them both in a secure, quiet life far from the corporate crossfires.
In the penthouse, the July heat had faded into a cool, gentle autumn breeze. Roman was fully recovered, the toxins completely purged from his system. Isla watched them from the kitchen island, a cup of tea between her hands. The tension that had gripped her shoulders for months had finally dissolved.
Roman looked up, catching her gaze. He crawled out of the cardboard fort, leaving Noah to happily destroy the rest of it, and sat next to Isla, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"We did it," he whispered into her hair. "The past is truly gone. The Voss family is no longer a threat."
