Chapter 20 - Our Story, Forever

Six months later. Spring had arrived again, painting the town in brilliant shades of green, cherry blossoms, and sunshine.

At the Vance family estate—a spacious, warm home nestled near a quiet lake, far away from the noise of the city—a golden retriever puppy named "Bucks" was chasing a red ball across the green lawn.

Emma and Chloe were running after the puppy, their laughter ringing out in the clear spring air. Their silver bluebird bracelets glinted under the sun as they played.

On the wide wooden porch overlooking the lake, Ethan sat on a comfortable double swing, holding a warm cup of coffee. Sophie leaned softly against his side, her head resting on his shoulder, her diamond ring sparkling in the afternoon light.

"Look at them," Sophie said softly, a gentle, peaceful smile gracing her lips. "Remember when they tried to hire you for five dollars?"

Ethan smiled warmly, wrapping his arm tighter around her waist, pulling her closer. "It was the best deal I ever made. The returns have been priceless."

"No more corporate wars? No more dangerous secrets?" Sophie asked softly, looking up into his calm, dark eyes.

"No more," Ethan promised, kissing her lips softly. "Just us. Just our family."

Out on the lawn, Emma and Chloe managed to catch the playful puppy. They picked him up together and ran toward the porch, their faces flushed with happiness.

"Daddy! Mommy! Look! Bucks caught the ball!" Chloe yelled joyfully.

Ethan and Sophie stood up from the swing, stepping down to the grass to meet them. Ethan reached down, scooping both girls and the wriggling puppy up into his arms, while Sophie wrapped her arms around all of them from the side.

The warm spring breeze whispered through the trees, carrying the scent of flowers and the sound of pure, unshakeable laughter.
