Chapter 10 - A Life Reclaimed

Six months later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the pristine glass tower of Sterling-Vance Global in the heart of the financial district.

Inside the top-floor corner office, Elena stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, holding a hot cup of black coffee. She wore an immaculate white power suit, her posture commanding and relaxed.

On the news ticker across her computer screen, the headlines read:

A quiet knock came at her office door. Her assistant stepped inside holding a large bouquet of fresh white lilies.

"Ms. Vance, these just arrived for you from Mr. Arthur Sterling," the assistant said with a warm smile. "He included a note."

Elena took the card and read Arthur’s neat handwriting:

Elena smiled, putting the card down. She walked over to her desk and looked at a small framed photo. It wasn't of Mark, nor of the dark past. It was a picture of her standing on the balcony of her new coastal villa, looking out at the boundless ocean, completely free.
