Flashing red and blue lights illuminated the frosted glass windows of the grand foyer. The sound of sirens cut through the evening air, signaling the end of the drama and the beginning of accountability.
The front doors swung open again. Chief Detective Vance stepped into the mansion accompanied by four armed police officers.
"Mr. Sterling," Detective Vance spoke, stepping into the living room. "We received your emergency call."
Arthur pointed a trembling, stern finger at Evelyn and Mark. "Detective. These two individuals have committed grand larceny, embezzlement, conspiracy to commit murder, and corporate fraud. All the hard evidence—financial records, bank accounts, and audio recordings—are right here on this table."
Detective Vance nodded to his officers. "Cuff them."
"No! Get your hands off me!" Evelyn screamed as steel handcuffs clicked tightly around her wrists. "I am the lady of this house! You can't touch me!"
"You're an inmate now, Evelyn," Elena said coldly as the officers dragged her toward the door.
Mark didn't scream. He didn't fight. As the police pulled him up from the floor and placed the handcuffs on his wrists, he stared at Elena with tears streaming down his face.
"Elena... please..." Mark sobbed. "Give me one more chance. I'll do anything... I'll fix this..."

"You had five years of chances, Mark," Elena said softly, stepping closer to him. "You traded a queen for a snake. Now you can share a cell with your sins."
As the police marched Mark and Evelyn out into the rain, their pathetic cries faded into the distance, replaced by the quiet hum of the night.
