Chapter 10 - The Promise Kept

One year later.
The summer sun shone brightly over the lush, manicured lawns of the Moretti estate in New York. The mansion, once cold and silent like a mausoleum, was alive with music, laughter, and the happy chatter of dozens of guests.
White silk ribbons fluttered from floral archways set up along the grand garden terrace.
Three little boys, dressed in adorable mini-tuxedos with silver bowties, were running across the lawn, shouting with unbridled joy. Leo led the charge, while Lucas and Liam trailed closely behind, dragging a thick hemp rope across the grass.
Matteo stood near the refreshment table, chuckling as he caught the rope before the triplets could trip a senator’s wife.
Inside the grand dressing room overlooking the garden, Emma stood before a full-length mirror, taking a deep breath. She looked breathtaking in an ivory lace gown that hugged her voluptuous curves flawlessly, her chestnut hair styled in elegant waves adorned with white jasmine flowers.
A soft knock sounded at the open door.
Gabriel stepped inside, looking impossibly handsome in a tailored black tuxedo. He stopped in his tracks, his dark eyes sweeping over his bride with unadulterated devotion and awe.
"You take my breath away, Emma," Gabriel murmured, stepping up behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her shoulder.
Emma smiled into the mirror, leaning back against his chest. "You look pretty handsome yourself, Don Moretti."
Gabriel reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a small, exquisite velvet box. He opened it, revealing a delicate gold necklace featuring a small pendant—an olive branch entwined with a dove, surrounded by brilliant diamonds.
"Isabella’s seal," Emma whispered, her eyes shining with tears.
"Isabella gave this to me on our wedding day," Gabriel said gently, unclasping the chain and placing it around Emma’s neck. "She told me to give it to the woman who would one day complete our family. I know she is watching us today, smiling, knowing her promise has been fulfilled."
Emma turned around in his arms, touching the pendant over her heart, looking up into the eyes of the man who had become her entire world.
"I love you, Gabriel," she whispered softly.
"I love you, Emma," Gabriel replied, his voice rich with boundless warmth. "More than life itself."
A cheerful knock interrupted them as the doors flew open. Leo, Lucas, and Liam burst into the room, their little faces covered in chocolate cake.
"Daddy! Emma! Look!" Leo yelled, pointing outside. "The rope is ready!"
Gabriel and Emma laughed, holding hands as they allowed the three energetic boys to pull them down the grand staircase and out onto the sunny lawn.

Surrounded by friends, family, and the unstoppable sound of children's laughter, Gabriel knelt in the bright grass alongside his beautiful wife and three sons. Together, all five of them held onto the thick hemp rope, pulling with all their strength against the joy of a brand-new day.
The shadows were gone. The promise was kept. And the Moretti family was finally home.
