Chapter 9 - Justice Served

The courtyard of Villa Moretti became the battleground where an empire fell.

Gabriel moved with terrifying, surgical precision. His rifle barked through the smoke, dropping Falcone’s guards one by one as he advanced across the marble terrace. Bullets ricocheted off stone pillars around him, but Gabriel did not slow down. He was a force of nature, driven by the memory of his wife and the fierce love of the woman watching from the groves.

Matteo, seeing his Don push forward, rallied the remaining Moretti forces, flank-routing the mercenaries and cutting off Falcone’s escape route.

Within five minutes, Falcone’s guards were completely neutralized, laying defeated across the courtyard.

Don Falcone, desperate and bleeding from a shrapnel wound, scrambled toward his armored vehicle, reaching for a weapon on the seat.

Before his hand could touch the frame, a heavy combat boot slammed down onto Falcone’s wrist, pinning it to the gravel.

Falcone shrieked in pain, looking up into the barrel of Gabriel’s sidearm.

Gabriel stood over him, towering like a dark judge. The smoke from the burning villa swirled around his silhouette.

"Please, Gabriel!" Falcone wept, coughing blood. "It was business! Only business! We can make a deal! Half my territories! Millions!"

"You targeted my wife," Gabriel said, his voice deathly quiet, every word laced with absolute finality. "You tried to murder my sons. And you threatened the woman I love."

"Gabriel, wait!" Matteo called out, running up with a secure tablet. "The Italian Federal Police and Interpol just arrived at the gates! They intercepted the digital files from Isabella’s diary that Emma just transmitted from her phone!"

Gabriel paused, his gun still trained on Falcone’s forehead.

Matteo held up the tablet screen, showing live news feeds. Interpol raids were already underway across Rome, Milan, and New York. Don Falcone’s entire political network, his illegal shipping accounts, and his syndicate captains were being arrested in real-time.

"It’s over, Gabriel," Matteo said softly. "His empire is completely destroyed. Legally, financially, and permanently. If you shoot him now, you go to prison. Leave him to the law—let him rot in a windowless cell for the rest of his life."

Gabriel stared down at the trembling, ruined old man at his feet. He looked back toward the olive groves, where Emma was stepping out into the moonlight, holding her arms around herself, watching him with hopeful, loving eyes.

Gabriel slowly lowered his firearm.

"Death is too merciful for you, Falcone," Gabriel said coldly. He kicked the weapon away from Falcone’s hand as Interpol officers swarmed into the courtyard, forcing the disgraced crime boss to his knees in handcuffs.

Gabriel turned his back on his enemy forever and walked straight toward Emma.

She ran into his arms. Gabriel caught her, lifting her off her feet, burying his face into her hair as she wrapped her legs around his waist, weeping tears of pure relief.

"You did it," Emma sobbed, kissing his neck, his jaw, his cheek. "You did it, Gabriel."

"We did it," Gabriel corrected, holding her tightly against his heart. "It's over, Emma. The darkness is finally gone."
