Chapter 19 - Rebuilding the Legacy

Three months later, the winter snow had blanketed Kellerman Square in a pristine sheet of white. The drama had settled. Marcus was awaiting trial without bail, and the corrupt board members had been completely purged from the company.
James sat in his newly renovated office at Ashby Tower. He was no longer just the Chairman; he had officially converted the corporation into a public benefit entity. The legal loophole Eleanor had left in her trust ensured that Kellerman Square and the surrounding community centers could never be bought, sold, or destroyed by corporate greed.
Clara walked into the office, holding the hands of Callie and Bea, who were dressed in matching bright red winter coats.
"Someone wanted to see the big boss," Clara smiled.
The twins broke free and ran across the plush carpet, throwing their arms around James’s legs. James laughed, lifting them both up.
"Look, James!" Callie said, pointing out the floor-to-ceiling window that overlooked the entire city. "Everything looks like tiny toys from up here!"

"It does," James agreed softly, looking down at the city he had saved, and that had saved him in return. "But the most important things are right here in this room."
He handed Clara an official document. It was the approval for a co-guardianship. James was officially, legally, their adoptive father, sharing the responsibility with Clara. They were a family now, legally bound and unbreakable.
