Bea looked at the two large men guarding the door. She was outmatched physically, but she possessed her father’s sharp, strategic mind.
"You think you can rob me in a federal bank vault, Julian?" Bea asked, her voice calm, her finger secretly pressing the speed-dial button on her phone inside her pocket. She had set her phone to stream directly to her office's secure server the moment she suspected she was being followed.
"The cameras in this hallway are currently undergoing 'scheduled maintenance,'" Julian sneered. "No one is watching."
"Actually, my entire legal team is watching," Bea said, holding up her phone, which was broadcasting a live video feed of Julian's face to five major news outlets and the District Attorney’s office. "Say hello to the internet, Julian."
Julian’s face went pale. He looked at the phone, then at his associates. "Get the phone!"

Bea ducked beneath the first man’s reach, throwing the heavy metal safety deposit box directly at the second man's shins. The box crashed down, spilling old coins and keys across the floor. In the confusion, Bea bolted through the doorway, her heels clicking furiously on the marble steps as she sprinted toward the main lobby where bank security was already rushing down.
"Stop her!" Julian screamed, but it was too late. Bea burst into the bright afternoon sun, clutching the blue envelope to her chest as she jumped into a waiting taxi.
