Chapter 27 - Into the Labyrinth
Under the cover of midnight, armed with heavy flashlights and architectural maps, Bea and Callie descended into the concrete tunnels beneath Kellerman Square. The air was damp and cold, smelling of rust and wet stone.
"The intake valve is another fifty yards ahead," Callie whispered, her flashlight beam cutting through the darkness.
As they reached the massive water main, they saw that the electronic lock had indeed been bypassed. A specialized chemical dripping device was attached to the secondary intake pipe, slowly releasing a clear, toxic fluid into the system.
"Take a video of this, Callie," Bea said, pulling out her camera. "This is federal sabotage."
"I’m afraid that video will never see the light of day, ladies," a voice echoed from the darkness of the tunnel.

Julian stepped out from behind a concrete pillar, holding a heavy iron wrench. Beside him stood his lead corporate saboteur.
"You really should have taken the buyout," Julian said, his eyes wild in the beam of their flashlights. "Now, you’re just two tragic victims of a sewer gas explosion."
