Chapter 19 - The Reckoning

Thomas immediately pulled out his phone and made a single call to the senior editor of the Financial Times and the chief legal correspondent for the BBC.
"This is Thomas Hale," he said into the phone, his voice steady as granite. "I am releasing the complete digital audit of Vance Global's offshore holding companies, including evidence of witness bribery and criminal child exploitation in connection with the upcoming £3 billion merger. Send your cameras to the Royal Courts of Justice and Arthur Davenport's residence now."
Within twenty minutes, the entire landscape flipped.
As the court reconvened for final arguments, Eleanor Thorne dropped a bombshell onto the judge's desk: Chloe’s signed confession, complete with bank statements showing direct wire transfers from Marcus Sterling’s shell company to Chloe’s brother.
Simultaneously, news alerts began flashing on every mobile device in the courtroom. Headlines from major international news outlets broke across the screens:
"VANCE GLOBAL ACCUSED OF FABRICATING CHILD CUSTODY SUIT TO SECURE MERGER." "LEAKED DOCUMENTS EXPOSE MULTI-MILLION POUND WITNESS BRIBERY BY RICHARD VANCE."
Justice Henderson slammed his gavel down with tremendous force. "Silence in the court!"
The judge turned his fierce gaze upon Richard Vance and Julian Vance. The arrogance had completely vanished from Richard’s face; he looked like a man watching his empire dissolve into ash in real time.
"Mr. Vance," Justice Henderson said, his voice echoing with scathing judgment. "In my thirty years on the bench, I have rarely witnessed such an egregious, cynical, and malicious abuse of the family court system. You have attempted to turn a child's life into a bargaining chip for corporate greed, using intimidation, bribery, and deceit."
The judge turned to Claire and Thomas.

"The petition for revocation of custody is dismissed with prejudice," Justice Henderson declared firmly. "Furthermore, I am issuing a permanent, non-expiring restraining order against Julian Vance and Richard Vance, prohibiting them from coming within five hundred yards of Miles Hale or his primary residence. I am also referring this matter directly to the Crown Prosecution Service for criminal investigation into witness tampering and bribery."
Tears of overwhelming relief washed over my face. I collapsed into Thomas’s arms, holding him with every ounce of strength I possessed. We had won. The shadows were finally gone.
