Chapter 30 - The Forever Kingdom

Spring returned to Oxfordshire in May 2030, bringing with it a breathtaking explosion of white and pink apple blossoms, vibrant green grass, and sweet, fragrant air.
Our wedding was held right on the back lawn, under the sweeping canopy of the two ancient oak trees. There were no press crews, no corporate politics, and no cold, judgmental eyes. There were only twenty of our closest, truest friends, local neighbors, and the sweet sound of an acoustic violin drifting through the afternoon breeze.
I walked down the grass aisle in a graceful, simple lace dress, holding a bouquet of fresh lavender and wild orchard flowers. Standing at the altar under the oak trees was Thomas, looking handsome and proud in a dark linen suit, his eyes locked onto mine with endless love.
Miles served as our ring bearer, walking proudly down the aisle in a little tailored suit, holding the ring box with absolute, unwavering focus.
When the vows were spoken and Thomas pulled me close for our wedding kiss, the entire lawn erupted into warm, loving applause.
Later that afternoon, as the golden spring sun cast its brilliant, warm light across the rolling green hills, the long rustic wooden table on the back lawn was once again laden with fresh food, summer berry cobbler, and laughter.
Miles was sprinting through the green orchard with Barnaby, his energetic laughter echoing across the open field. He was six years old, completely healthy, vibrantly alive, and utterly safe.
Thomas came up behind me as I stood near the edge of the porch, wrapping his strong arms around my waist and resting his chin on my shoulder.
"Look at him, Claire," Thomas murmured softly, watching our son play in the warm sunlight. "He's free."

"We're all free," I smiled, leaning back against his chest, placing my hand over his.
There were no sharp chairs scraping backwards today. There were no silent, judgmental tables, no cruel threats, and no shadows from the past. There was only the quiet, eternal truth of a family bound by love, the steady rhythm of a healthy boy growing up under golden skies, and the absolute peace of a kingdom built to last forever.
