Chapter 19 - Rebuilding the Sanctuary

With the Syndicate permanently dismantled and Victoria facing a lifetime in federal prison, the dark cloud over the Costa family finally cleared. The media hailed Gabriel and Norah as corporate heroes who had successfully purged the city of a deeply rooted criminal network.
The Costa Foundation’s funds were unfrozen, and the city council awarded them an official commendation for public safety.
A month later, the atmosphere in the Costa penthouse was light and filled with laughter. Gabriel was sitting on the plush rug, teaching little Gabriel how to stack wooden blocks. The heavy, defensive guard he always kept up had melted away completely.

Norah walked out onto the balcony, holding two glasses of lemonade. Gabriel stood up, leaving their son to happily knock down the wooden tower, and followed her out into the warm August evening air.
"We did it, Norah," Gabriel said, pulling her into his chest, his heart beating with a deep, peaceful rhythm. "The past is dead. There are no more ghosts left to fight."
