In David’s apartment, the two of them, along with a trusted forensic analyst, worked through the night analyzing the cloned data from Lennox & Sons.
"It's a goldmine," the analyst whispered, typing furiously. "Look here. Aegis Holdings isn't just a shell. The beneficial owner is indeed Richard Vance. But look at where the incoming funds are coming from."
Claire leaned over the screen. The source of the millions of dollars funding Richard's lawsuit was a series of accounts linked to Julian Croft—a corrupt city councilman who had been pushing for the demolition of several low-income neighborhoods to build commercial centers. Neighborhoods where The Vance Haven had recently bought land to build permanent housing for abuse survivors.
"My god," David breathed. "This isn't just a personal grudge, Claire. Richard is being paid by Croft to destroy the foundation so they can seize our properties under eminent domain once we go bankrupt. It’s a massive corporate-political conspiracy."
