She stood in the grand lobby of Vance Financial. She had officially taken over as the active Chief Executive Officer, a position her father had always envisioned for her. The company was thriving under her direct, transparent leadership.
Furthermore, she had converted the brownstone—the house that once felt like a prison—into a fully funded foundation for victims of domestic abuse and financial coercion, naming it The Vance Haven.
Miriam Cole walked into her new executive office, holding two glasses of champagne.

Claire clinked her glass against Miriam's. "It feels real now. It’s finally over."
